Al Hoota Cave
Ride a little train into a real cave with an underground lake and blind fish!
What you'll do
Al Hoota is Oman's great show cave, at the foot of Jebel Shams near Al Hamra. A small electric train carries you to the entrance (a ride kids adore), then a guided walk takes you 500 metres past floodlit stalactites and stalagmites to an underground lake with rare blind cave fish.
Tours run about 45 minutes on good walkways with handrails β manageable from about age 4, and the cool 20-something-degree cave is a delicious break from summer heat.
There's a geology exhibition, cafΓ© and gift shop above ground. Book ahead online: tour slots cap out, especially on winter weekends.
π Bring & wear
Light jacket (the cave is cool and humid), closed shoes with grip. No strollers inside β baby carriers work.
