What you'll do
This huge, dramatically modern museum in Manah (20 minutes past Nizwa) walks you from Oman's geology and ancient civilisations right up to the modern renaissance — with immersive projections, life-size falaj and fort models, and interactive stations everywhere.
There's a dedicated children's discovery area, a good café, and the building itself — a swooping angular landmark against the mountains — is half the show.
It's genuinely one of the best museums in the Gulf and works for all ages. Combine with Nizwa Fort for the full Dakhiliyah day.

A jumper for the chilly galleries. Everything else is on site.
💡 Family tips
- The immersive projection rooms are the kids' highlight — ask staff for times
- Allow at least two hours; teens could do three
- Go to the museum in the morning cool, Nizwa Fort in the late afternoon
