National Museum of Oman
Dhows, treasure, forts and 5,000 years of Oman β with hands-on corners for kids.
What you'll do
Oman's flagship museum in Old Muscat, opposite Al Alam Palace, tells the whole story of the country: maritime adventures and dhow building, forts and castles, silver, weaponry, and civilisations back to the Land of Frankincense.
It's genuinely child-friendly by museum standards β big ship models, immersive displays, a learning centre with activities, and cool, calm halls that make a perfect escape from the midday heat.
Pair it with a drive past the palace and the harbour walls of Old Muscat, or Bait Al Zubair around the corner.
