What you'll do

Fins Beach, also known as White Beach, sits right on the coastal highway between Quriyat and Sur, roughly halfway between Wadi Dayqah and Wadi Shab. Instead of soft sand, the shoreline is pale pebbles that make the water look an especially bright turquoise, with dramatic cliffs framing the bay — it is popular with informal campers as well as day visitors.
Children can swim and paddle in calm weather (winter months are best), and rays and turtles are sometimes seen just offshore. There are no facilities at all, so this is very much a bring-everything-you-need stop rather than a beach resort.
It works well as a scenic break on the drive to or from Sur — a picnic, a swim, or simply watching the sunset over the cliffs before continuing the journey.

Sturdy sandals — the shoreline has sharp shells and rocky patches; your own shade, food and water since there are no shops nearby; a tent if camping overnight.

  • No lifeguard and currents can be strong — supervise swimming closely
  • Best sea conditions and cooler weather are October to April
  • Bring all the water, food and rubbish bags you need — pack out everything you bring in
  • Combine with Wadi Shab or Bimmah Sinkhole, both a short drive away on the same coast road
