Al Sifah Beach
A quiet cove of soft sand and clear water under the mountains β swim, paddle and watch the fishing boats come in.
What you'll do
As Sifah is a small fishing village about 50 minutes from Muscat, and its beach is one of the calmer, less commercial coastal spots within easy reach of the city β a curve of sand with fishing boats pulled up on the shore and mountains dropping straight down to the water behind it.
Families come here to swim, paddle and build sandcastles rather than for any particular attraction; the appeal is the quiet, uncrowded setting. A short drive away, Jebel Sifah marina has cafΓ©s and restrooms if you want facilities beyond the beach itself.
Go in the late afternoon for the best light and cooler temperatures, and treat it as a simple, free half-day by the sea rather than a full resort beach β there is no lifeguard and few facilities on the sand itself.
π Bring & wear
Water shoes for the rockier patches, plenty of drinking water, and your own shade (umbrella or tent) β the beach itself has little natural shade.
π‘ Family tips
- No lifeguard β supervise swimming closely and stay near other families
- Some patches of the shore are rocky; water shoes help
- Currents can be stronger than they look β ask locally before swimming out past the shallows
- Sunset here is lovely with the mountains behind you
- Dress modestly away from the immediate swimming area, in line with local custom
π» Facilities
- Free informal parking along the access road
- CafΓ©s and restrooms a short drive away at Jebel Sifah marina
