What you'll do

Al Sahwa Public Garden is a large landscaped park next to the Burj Al Sahwa clock tower roundabout in Mawaleh, Seeb — nearly 300,000 square metres of lawns, clipped hedge parterres, gazebos and palm avenues, opened in 2007 and still one of the best-kept municipal gardens in Muscat.
Children head straight for the play areas (slides, swings, monkey bars, and coin-operated electric cars and pony rides on busy evenings) while parents get a coffee kiosk, free Wi-Fi, benches and a formal geometric hedge garden that looks especially good lit up after dark.
It's free, busy on weekends, and works well as an evening stop rather than a midday one — shade is limited once the sun is up, but the paths and gardens are lit at night.

🎒 Bring & wear

Insect repellent for after sunset, a small picnic or snack money for the kiosk, comfortable shoes for the play areas' loose gravel paths.

  • Visit on a weekday if you can — weekends get crowded, especially the play areas and parking
  • Go in the early evening: it's cooler, the gardens are lit, and the kiosk is open
  • Mosquitoes appear after sunset — bring repellent
