Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve
Watch giant green turtles lay eggs on the beach at night β pure magic for kids.
What you'll do
At the easternmost tip of Arabia, Ras Al Jinz is one of the world's most important green turtle nesting beaches. Guided walks leave the visitor centre at night (9pm) and dawn (5am) to watch mother turtles dig nests and lay eggs β and in season, hatchlings scrambling to the sea.
The reserve has a small museum, cafΓ©, and on-site rooms and eco-tents; staying over makes the 5am dawn walk (the best one for kids β light, cooler, hatchlings) actually pleasant.
Booking ahead is essential; tours are ranger-led, red-torchlight only, and utterly unforgettable. Peak nesting is JuneβSeptember; some turtles nest year-round.
π Bring & wear
Closed shoes for the beach walk, light layers (dawn is cool), water. No white torches or flash photography β the rangers enforce it.
